The first visit consists of a thorough psychiatric evaluation. We will discuss not only the reason for your visit, but many other aspects of your life including: your medical history, family history, substance abuse, and social history...just to name a few. For children we will speak with the child and the guardian. Follow ups are more brief. We will see how you are doing and make adjustments as required.
Absolutely. Everything we discuss is confidential. The only way we can release any information from our evaluations is if you specifically give us your written consent through a release of information form.
Please understand, all psychiatric providers are required by law to breach confidentiality if information is provided that someone is a threat to themselves, someone else, or if a vulnerable person (i.e. and elderly person or child) is at risk.
This is why we do a thorough psychiatric evaluation. Our goal is to do what is best for our patients, no matter what. It doesn't hurt to have a psychiatric evaluation just to give yourself peace of mind. Sometimes, we may simply recommend that you see a therapist or possibly just make lifestyle changes. We don't prescribe medication to every single person who sees us, only those who need it.
We treat virtually any psychiatric illness including: depression, anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, psychosis, personality disorders, ADHD, PTSD, eating disorders, insomnia, and many, many more. We are also comfortable treating adults and children throughout the lifespan.
No. Unfortunately we do not feel comfortable prescribing BUP online as we are not able to check vital signs, do pill counts, or collect drug screens. We feel this is better done in a clinic setting. We can help you find a MAT provider, however. And in some cases we do prescribe naltrexone.
